The innovative Automatic Dipping and Flushing (ADF) system from ADF Milking Limited helps dairy farmers around the world to improve the health of their herds, which in turn saves them money and reduces the need for antibiotics. The Automatic Dipping and Flushing system also saves the farmer time and labour, improving efficiencies on dairy farms.
The unique technology of the ADF System automates a crucial part of the milking routine by reducing the need for manual labour in the milking parlour. Once a dairy cow has finished milking, the ADF System immediately dips her teats with an iodine-based sanitiser before they are exposed to the environment. This prevents harmful bacteria from reaching the teat canal. The ADF System is then removed from the cow and the system is rinsed with a sanitising solution to prevent the spread of mastitis from one cow to the next. The entire process is done automatically which saves dairy farmers time and money.
Thousands of dairy farmers in over 30 countries around the world swear by the ADF System. Endorsed by industry experts over the last 10 years, the Automatic Dipping & Flushing system is considered an essential tool in mastitis reduction.
The Queen's Awards for Enterprise
Her Majesty the Queen has acknowledged ADF Milking for a second time – on this occasion for the outstanding growth we have achieved in exporting ADF Systems to customers overseas and the substantial year-on-year growth we have accomplished internationally over the last 6 years. ADF Milking has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2020: International Trade. We previously won a Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2013.
What does it mean to win?
We are very proud to be one of 220 British organisations to be recognised with a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise this year. ADF Milking founder and inventor James Duke is delighted to be given this award by the Queen. “We take great pleasure in helping dairy farmers in the UK and overseas,” says James. “We want to do our bit to keep them in business and protect our essential food supply chain, both locally and internationally.”
Director and CEO Angus Buchanan says it is a great pleasure to be honoured by Her Majesty the Queen for our British technology. “Through receiving this prestigious achievement we have proven that it is possible to succeed on the international stage against much larger competitors by innovating and challenging the status quo.”
Why did we enter the Queen's Awards?
We entered the Queens Award for Enterprise for the second time because we are very proud of our team who have come together to achieve international recognition for our innovative product and we wanted to celebrate that. We gained an enormous amount of recognition when we won our first Queen’s Award so we jumped at the chance of winning a second. We know from experience that the Queen’s Award is held in high regard by our customers, partners and suppliers – and rightly so.
ADF Milking Ltd was founded in 2003 by innovator and milking system engineer James Duke. It started with a vision to increase efficiency in post milking hygiene methods. This vision has led us to being recognised by dairy industry experts as leading the way with our multi award-winning Automated Dipping and Flushing system. From the first prototypes in 2004 to the state-of-the-art system we continue to develop today, we have had a passion for improving cow health as a key driver for increasing farm profitability.
