What does receiving a King’s Award mean to you and your organisation?
I can’t express how proud we are. Being recognised for an invention that’s making a difference in the world is what we've always dreamt of. As the awards carry so much integrity, it gives people even more faith in our brand and reassurance in our products.
What has your personal journey been like as a woman in business/your sector?
There have been challenges along the way, particularly at trade shows or where people in the industry have historically wanted to speak with a man. Things have changed though, and there’s now a lot more woman in tech and representation of woman in this industry. Stereotypes have been broken and I believe attitudes are changing for the better.
What advice would you give to other women aspiring to senior leadership roles?
Trust your instincts and don’t wait for permission to create opportunities. Some of the most meaningful connections and partnerships I’ve built have come from simply reaching out to someone because I felt there was a conversation worth having. Leadership doesn’t always come from having the loudest voice in the room - it often comes from empathy, listening and building genuine relationships. I also think it’s important not to feel that you have to fit a traditional mould of leadership. Your perspective, your sensitivity and your ability to understand people can be some of your greatest strengths.
Is there anything else you’d like to share as part of International Women’s Day?
For me, International Women’s Day is a reminder of how important it is to ensure that different voices and perspectives are represented. Some of the most powerful stories I’ve come across through Flare have come from people who might not normally be given a platform. When we take the time to listen to those stories, we learn so much about each other and about the world around us. I feel very grateful to work with a team and a community that values empathy curiosity and connection, and I hope we continue to create spaces where people feel seen, heard and able to share their experiences.
