🌟 Celebrating International Women’s Week: Spotlight on Natasha Edwards, The Garlic Farm (Isle of Wight)
As part of International Women’s Week, we're delighted to celebrate a remarkable leader within the Isle of Wight’s rural and agrifood community: Natasha Edwards of The Garlic Farm. Her commitment to sustainable farming, inclusive leadership, and community impact makes her an inspiring example of women driving meaningful change in agriculture and business.
When reflecting on The Garlic Farm’s recent achievement, Natasha shared:
“We are extremely proud to have been selected for a King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. It’s a huge honour to have this Royal stamp of approval and particularly since the whole team have been working on restorative practices in our farm and business for many years.”
Natasha’s own journey as a woman in business has been shaped by the strength of the island’s community:
“We are very fortunate to have some excellent female leaders in the agricultural industry and in the business community here on the Isle of Wight. There are a number of supportive groups for women in business that have been incredibly helpful to me, as well as my personal relationships with other successful women in business.
We have a majority of female management level people in our business and equity on our board; it helps us to remain inclusive and balanced.”
Her advice for women aspiring to senior leadership is both grounding and empowering:
“Lean into your own strengths; there are many different styles of leadership. Even introverts can be excellent collaborative leaders.”
And on this International Women’s Day, Natasha encourages us all to keep moving forward:
“While it’s important to recognise how far we have come in ensuring equal access to opportunities for women in business, there is still work to do. Valuing all unique capabilities, regardless of gender, feels like something worth continuing to strive for in our businesses and as a society.”
💜 A brilliant leader, role model, and advocate for sustainable, inclusive growth—Natasha’s work continues to enrich not only The Garlic Farm, but the wider community around her.
