I thought it was about time The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise entered the world of blogging and I wanted to start my first post by congratulating our 2013 winners, who are announced today. I've been The Secretary to The Queen's Awards for Enterprise for around 18 months now. It's a job I love as I get to learn about so many inspirational stories of business success and individual achievement.

If you don't already know, The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the UK’s most prestigious Awards that recognise the outstanding work of all sizes of businesses and enterprising individuals from across the UK. They’re free to enter and entries are open now until 30 September this year.

One of the many benefits of winning an Award is the opportunity to go to Buckingham Palace for a Royal Reception with The Queen. Our winners also say the award is great for staff morale, company profile and sales. If this has got you interested, you can find more information, including details of the business categories, minimum entry criteria and links to the forms and guidance notes, on our website.

So, what can you expect from this blog? First, it won't just be me you'll be hearing from - you'll get to know all of the Queen's Awards team: Kat, Sean, Kerry and Alastair. We’ve lined up guest blogs from some of our new 2013 winners who are keen to share their experiences of entering the Awards. You'll hear from previous winners about what winning has meant to them and their businesses. Our assessors and Judges will also offer an insight into what they’re looking for from this year’s entries. We’ll share our top tips for navigating the forms and answer any questions you have on the process in general so if there’s anything you want to know, do get in touch.

For more updates, why not join us on LinkedIn too.

I'll sign off by once again sending my warmest congratulations to all the 2013 winners that have been announced today - thank you for sharing your story and earning the recognition you deserve!
